OKLAHOMA CITY—It’s that time of the year again for the annual HeART of Gold Gallery at Heritage Hall. The bi-annual fundraiser kicked off its online bidding March 27 and will run through April 7 at 6 p.m.

The Heart of Gold Gala and fundraiser benefit Heritage Hall’s teacher retention.  The majority of it supports faculty endowment, which helps Heritage Hall retain, recruit and reward excellent teachers.

The Heart of Gold committees select the endowed chair recipients, with the remainder of the money raised funding teacher bonuses.

The art gallery exhibit, which is located in the Embree Gallery in the Heritage Hall Upper School, features paintings, sculptures, ceramics and photography from renowned artists as well as current students, faculty, and parents.

Pieces include Margaret Reynold Hoge’s “Best of the Bouquet”, a commissioned custom-painted denim piece by student Nic Johnson, “Golden Hearts of Love” by Desmond Mason, “The Pink Lady” by student Cheyenne Matthews and “Opine on Mexico’s Beaches” by Beth Hammack.

All pieces have a minimum starting bid.

Only one piece remains from 2022. That is a stainless-steel sculpture by Dennis Heimbach called the G-Shape. At 40x31x26 and a starting bid of $2,000, it is definitely a statement piece that I am personally looking forward to seeing where it lands.

But not all work is as dominant  as the G-Shape. Both Emily Nickel and Maddi Nowell have produced ceramic bowls with a mix of radiant and bold colors and a starting bid of $50.

According to school officials, anyone from the community can visit the Heritage Hall Embree Gallery (1800 NW 122nd Street) during regular business hours to view the donated pieces of art and make a bid.

The Heart of Gold Gala will be held April 6 at the Oklahoma City Golf & Country Club. It will include a live auction as well.

While art will not be available to view at the gala event, they can view the art online (Heritagehall.com/heartgallery). It will allow prospective bidders to bid and view the tallies of what the highest bids are for each piece of work.
