One of the most popular traditions for the University of Oklahoma football team over the past few years has been its annual Meet the Sooners Day event. No matter the weather conditions, it consistently draws fans from across the state each year.

However, the event was put on pause for three years during the COVID-19 pandemic. But now that things have gotten back to normal, OU announced that the event is back on tap as well.

The 2023 version of Meet the Sooners Day will be held Saturday, Aug. 5 from 1-3 p.m. at Gaylord Family – Oklahoma Memorial Stadium. The event gives select OU fans a unique opportunity to interact with their favorite players and coaches on the main stadium concourse.
However, there have been a few changes made to the process. In the past, the event was always free for any kid, or adult, who wanted to meet their favorite player or get an autograph. However, this year a mandatory donation is being required.

The Meet the Sooners Day, which will also feature the OU soccer team, will only be available to members of the Crimson and Cream Collective (age 13 and above) or the Sooner Jr. Kids Club (age 12 and under).

Sooner Jr. Kids Club members must be accompanied by one adult guest, while Crimson and Cream Collective members will not be permitted to bring a guest (unless it is a Sooner Jr. Kids Club member).

Membership dues range anywhere from $10 to $500 per month for the Collective Memberships while the Sooner Jr. Kids is $50 for the entire year of activities, including the Meet The Sooners.

The money “donated” will go to the Sooners NIL (Name, Image, Likeness) Collective.
A line for attendees will form at Gate 5 on the stadium’s northwest corner and will flow under the Asp Avenue Parking Facility on the west side of the stadium. OU’s regular metal detector and clear-bag policies will be in effect.

Concessions stands will not be serving food, but water will be available for purchase. With tempatures expected to top 100 degrees, patrons will also be allowed to bring their own food and bottled water to the event. Public restrooms will be available for fans in attendance, as will cool-zone areas.
