OKLAHOMA CITY– The R&B Music Experience that rolled into Oklahoma City Sunday, was just that. An experience.

With the likes of Ginuwine, Silk, Bell Biv Devoe (BBD) and Monica on the lineup, the showed boasted several top performers from the golden age of R&B- the 1990s.

Each act got anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes of stage time until the final two closing acts. Bell Biv Devoe and Monica performed close to an hour at the Paycom Center.

The night started with H-Town, who performed their hit song Knockin’ the Boots, among others. However, a late-arriving crowd missed much of their performance.

Unlike some concerts, the R&B Music Experience started right and time and ran like a machine. After each set, it took five to 10 minutes to prepare the stage for the next performer before the show would resume.

In between acts, the DJ kept the crowd entertained by playing several old-school and some semi-new-school songs that the fans sang along with.

Silk and Tamar Braxton were next up. While Silk has been to Oklahoma before, Braxton said it was her first time performing in the state.

Dressed in a see-through black jumpsuit, Braxton belted out a few of her melodies and then promised she would be back again so fans can get a full Braxton experience.

The show closed out with Ginuwine, 112, BBD and Monica. Each performer was active and engaged in entertaining the fans.

No one worked harder than Ginuwine though. The 52-year-old D.C. native was all over the stage singing, dancing and throwing flowers into the floor seats. He even brought out a giant bobbled-headed replica of himself to dance with.

This was the second time BBD had made it to the Paycom Center this year. They were part of the New Edition and Jodeci tour that came earlier in the year.

Despite that, the fans still lost their minds when they performed their standards such as Poison.

Overall, it was an entertaining night. Would have liked to have seen a bigger crowd presence. But for a Sunday night show in late autumn, it was a solid showing.

The R&B Music Experience has five more shows on its 2022 calendar. They include Cincinnati (Nov. 20), Chicago (Dec. 2), Atlanta (Dec. 4), Louisiana (Dec. 9) and Tampa (Dec. 17).
