Russell Westbrook is a man of many skills. Whether it’s his quickness, leaping ability or fiery intensity, they have made him one of the best basketball players in the world.

However, it may be Westbrook’s ability to say a ton with just a few words that stands out the most.

Case in point came Wednesday afternoon after the Oklahoma City Thunder practice. With the team getting set to head off to New Orleans, Westbrook actually spoke to the media for during a lengthy session. And one of the many things that came out was how he blocks out the noise from those who are not on his team or in his family.

“I’ve been blessed with the talent to not give a f**k,” Westbrook said. “I don’t. Regardless of what happens, doesn’t change the way I live, doesn’t change the way I think, doesn’t change anything. I have an unbelievable family, great friends, unbelievable life, unbelievable job. I make a lot of money in my job. I’m extremely blessed, thankful, humble.”

Westbrook wasn’t done.

“Haven’t been in any trouble, don’t cause no problems, I’m perfectly fine,” Westbrook continued. “I’m living the best life. I can’t complain one bit. So, he say, she say, what somebody say about me, what they say about shooting, passing, dribbling, I don’t really care. Every year it’s something., They have to make up something about me, which is fine. The thing I always know, if they not talking about you, then you are not doing something right.”

The response sprung up when Westbrook was asked about the perceived criticism, he has gotten over his shooting woes. However, according to the all-star point guard said he learned to shout out the noise when he was 8-years old and that it has helped him to get to where he is today.

“Honestly, it’s just a blessing,” Westbrook said. “I don’t really know. Something I’ve had to always fight through my whole life. It’s the why reason that I have the motto of Why not? It’s what I really believe in. It’s what I stand by because there are many people in the world that will let somebody tell them they can or can not do something. Those words I don’t use in my vocabulary. I just think differently.”

After Thursday’s game, Westbrook and Paul George will head to Charlotte for the 2019 All-Star Weekend. Their next game is Feb. 22 when they host the Utah Jazz.
